Boppy v. My Brest Friend
There seems to be an age-old rivalry in the parenting community between the boppy and the My Brest Friend. I have heard people swear up and down that they just couldn't live without one over the other. For my part, when holding my friends' baby, I found the boppy to be totally and completely adorable, but really uncomfortable after a while. It just seemed too low and it didn't fit right over my lap, but that could be because of my growing belly. :)

Some others tell me that I'll want to get both, the MBF for breastfeeding and the boppy for holding the baby, for tummy time, for newborn lounging.

What do you think? Which pillow did you like better? Do you think it makes sense to register for both?

I'd really like to see some answers to this, as well.

For my first pregnancy, I had a Boppy, which I absolutely LOVED. It was perfect for me, for breastfeeding, lounging next to baby, letting baby nap upright, etc.

My cousin is having her son in February, and I saw that she had the my brest friend on her registry. She got it for her shower, and I was pretty curious about the benefits of it, over the Boppy (if any)

Plus.. how could you not love this face in a Boppy?!

That face! So incredibly cute, I almost can't stand it.

I HIGHLY recommend the My Brest Friend!! I couldnt have lived without it and it was the only way Holden would nurse for the first like 4 months! It has a firm body I found boppy like cushions to cooshy and like H would slide down on a slope and it was super awkward!

I hated my boppy. I never used it for my son and it was not comfy. MBF was AMAZING and I used it all the time, so did my son's father. I'm getting another with this baby.

I've seen V shaped pillows in the UK for less than half the price of the ones in mothercare, and plan to get one for the rest of my pregnancy, I'll try that out first (possibly getting a second one if it is not bulky enough).
Unless anyone has already done this and it's really gone wrong?

I wasn't able to breastfeed so I can't speak to that, but I loved my Boppy for bottlefeeding my son when he was small. I would also put him in it to lounge next to me on the couch (obviously not facing outward, lol) while I checked Facebook or whatever. When he was learning to sit I would put him in it on the floor so he wasn't constantly falling over and hitting his head.

My aunt has a son 3 weeks older than my son. She breastfed and didn't like the Boppy for breastfeeding, but she used it for all those other things I mentioned.

Personally I'd probably register for a Boppy (I can't speak to MBF at all, never even saw one) and hope someone buys it for you. If no one does, look for a used one. The whole thing is washable and you can always get a new cover for it for like 1/3 of the price of the whole pillow. =)

I've got both, and I don't love MBF. I find it to be too stiff when I'm curling up in bed or on the couch feeding my daughter. I'm a big fan of the Boppy, though--it's just right for us.

I tried the boppy for breastfeeding, but it was too low and soft. My back ended up hurting from the weird angle it put me at. I got the my brest friend and it was much more comfortable!! And bonus, there's a strap that wraps around you so it stays on if you need to get up while nursing. Boppy is good for propping baby up. My husband also liked using it to bottle feed the baby. I'd register for both as the have 2 separate uses in my mind. I'll probably get another boppy when we have another baby, just b/c our current one is so worn out and flat. But the MBF is still in great shape!
